XPeng Motors Core Management Team Undergoes Changes
XPeng Motors‘ three co-founders Henry Xia, He Tao, and Yang Chunlei have all exited the core management team.
On March 13th, according to the XPeng Motors official website, the “Team Member Information” shows that the company’s co-founders Henry Xia and He Tao have been changed from “Core Management Team” members to “Lifetime Honor” members. Currently, XPeng Motors’ “core team members” include three individuals: Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng, President Wang Fengying, and Vice Chairman and Co-President Brain Gu.
Before this, Henry Xia and He Tao were both core team members. Henry Xia was the co-founder and co-president, while He Tao was the co-founder and senior vice president.
Regarding the rumors of Henry Xia and He Tao leaving the company, XPeng Motors responded to the media that co-founders Henry Xia and He Tao will continue to support the company’s development in the capacity of lifelong honorary advisors.
By now, XPeng Motors’ original three founders Henry Xia, He Tao, and Yang Chunlei have all exited the company’s core management team.
According to XPeng Motors official WeChat account, in January 2016, XPeng Motors held its first annual meeting. Founder Henry Xia delivered the “2015 Annual Meeting Address.” In his address, he expressed gratitude to the two earliest partners He Tao and Yang Chunlei for “coming out with me at the first time based on trust, laying the foundation of three electric and one screen core. He Tao dares to think and do things with strong execution; Chunlei is technically excellent with rigorous engineering thinking; providing me with good complementarity.”

And He Xiaopeng is the core investor of XPeng Motors. At the beginning of its establishment, XPeng Motors received investments from many internet giants such as UC founder He Xiaopeng, YY founder David Li, Cheetah Mobile CEO Fu Sheng, and many well-known venture capital institutions and listed companies.
On August 29, 2017, XPeng Motors announced that He Xiaopeng officially joined XPeng Motors as chairman. Yang Chunlei also left XPeng Motors in the same year.
Starting from the end of 2022, XPeng Motors initiated a long-lasting organizational change, with several core executives including the founding team leaving XPeng. From January 30, 2023, Wang Fengying, known as the ‘Iron Lady’ from Great Wall Motors, took over as the President of XPeng Motors and is fully responsible for product planning and sales service system.
And in 2024, organizational adjustment remains a top priority for XPeng Motors. He Xiaopeng said in a recent commencement letter, “This year is the second year of XPeng‘s ‘from 1 to 2, second entrepreneurship,’ and also the second year of organizational adjustment. I will focus on enhancing capabilities at the grassroots level within the company and improving management skills and overall business efficiency at the enterprise process level.”

In February this year, XPeng Motors’ sales performance once again saw a significant decline, delivering a total of 4545 new cars, a year-on-year decrease of 24.38% and a month-on-month decrease of 44.91%. Among them, the XPeng X9 delivered 1448 units, with nearly four thousand units delivered in two months since its launch.
