DJI to Release New Inspire Drone on April 13

On the evening of April 6, Chinese drone maker DJI announced that it will hold a new product launch event themed “Inspiration Arrives” on April 13 to introduce its latest Inspire series drone product, which may be the long-awaited DJI Inspire 3. The DJI Inspire series drones are designed for professional use and are relatively expensive with larger bodies.

According to previous leaks, the size of the DJI Inspire 3 is similar to its predecessor. It will be equipped with a Zenmuse X9 full-frame camera using Panasonic LUMIX lenses and a Leica L mount. It can record up to 8K video at maximum resolution. The Zenmuse X9 full-frame camera was also used in DJI’s first film camera, the DJI Ronin 4D, providing excellent imaging quality.

Leaked patent information about this product also reveals some features of the DJI Inspire 3:

• FPV (first-person view) system has been moved to the top of the drone.
• Front/rear/left/right dual obstacle avoidance sensors are located on each arm using fisheye lenses.
• Arm width can be adjusted when folded down, allowing for adjustment of gimbal space.
• Arms can be adjusted parallel or in an “X” shape.
• Folding propellers will also be used for this model.

The DJI Inspire2 drone was released in November 2016 with a price of 19,999 yuan ($2908). Its body is made from magnesium-aluminum alloy material making it lighter weight than previous models while achieving speeds up to 94km/hour with an acceleration time from 0~80km/hour within just five seconds. With a dual battery redundancy system built into its body, the drone can last up to 27 minutes at altitudes between 2500~5000 meters above sea level. Additionally, the drone has a powerful remote transmission system and intelligent flight and filming functions.

However, on January 26, 2022, DJI notified its industry partners that the Inspire 2 drone was expected to be sold out by February of that year with sales immediately stopping thereafter. Currently, the product is listed as sold out on the official website.
