Huawei Opens Pre-sale for Smart Glasses Collaboration With Gentle Monster
In March 2019 at the launch event for the Huawei P30 series, the Chinese telecom giant also introduced the Huawei x Gentle Monster smart glasses. The collaboration with the Korean eyewear brand finally went on pre-sale on August 21 priced at 2,499 yuan (roughly $357).
For the past couple of months, the Huawei x Gentle Monster glasses could be found and tested in select Huawei physical stores. While different from ordinary glasses, calling the new device “smart” could be a bit of a stretch. This stylish waterproof and dustproof headset has no interface and is only limited to two “smart” features, such as taking calls and playing music. In essence the product is nothing but a fashionable bluetooth headset.

According to Huawei, the gadget’s speakers are placed in a way to send the sound signal right to the wearer’s ears. In addition, the device is equipped with an AI voice noise reduction technology to effectively reduce the interference of environmental noise during calls.
The glasses are charged through their case, similar to Apple’s AirPods headphones, and support non-contact wireless charging, which means that placing them into the case is enough to start charging, so no cables need to be connected. As for battery life, the glasses can sustain calls or play music for more than 2.5 hours on a single charge. The case helps extend that time to 8 hours.
