What to Expect at 2019 Consumer Electronics Show Asia

The 2019 Consumer Electronics Show Asia will kick off in Shanghai from June 11 to June 13 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. This time the exhibition will focus on fields such as virtual reality, robots, 5G, IoT and car technologies.

5G

With the dawn of the 5G era and continuous enhancements of 5G, the event will feature 5G applications and scenarios extensively. Just a few days ago, the 5G license is officially granted for commercial use, marking China’s official entry into the 5G era. China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Broadcasting Network are the first batch of companies to obtain 5G licenses.

Huawei has Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Technologies Consumer Business Group, to present the first keynote speech of the conference. Its booth in N1 will showcase their latest smartphones including the recently released Huawei P30, as well as other smartphone accessories and smart watches.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence technologies such as machine learning and object recognition are always the driving force of innovation. CES Asia will bring with visitors the companies at the forefront of artificial intelligence. In the healthcare arena, artificial intelligence is being used to check for tasks such as cancer screening, while in the retail sector, consumers use facial recognition to shop in unattended stores without cashiers.

One of the major AI companies at the exhibition is iFlytek. The Chinese information technology company will showcase its AI voice recognition technology, bringing products with AI translation and AI recording capabilities.

At the same time, numerous robotics products will be launched at this year’s CES Asia. Shenzhen-based Chasing-innovation has been focused on developing underwater drones and robotics, and the latest generation of product GLADIUS MINI won the Red Dot’s Product Design 2019 award. A California-based AIBrain is an artificial intelligence company that builds AI solutions for smartphones and robotics applications. Its products include AICoRE, the AI agent, iRSP, an intelligent robot software platform, and Futurable, a future simulation AI game where every character is a fully autonomous AI.

Auto Technologies

Compared to CESA last year, the field of auto technologies is largely enhanced this year, inviting over 105 enterprises including car manufacturers such as Nissan, Audi, Hyundai, Kia, SAIC Motor, FAW Hongqi, Great Wall Motors, Honda, WM Motor, Mercedes-Benz and Aiways.

The new rising power of EV WM Motor is launching the software and hardware combined Valet Parking System jointly with Baidu, the pioneer company in autonomous driving.

Valet Parking is a commercial service that enables autonomous driving under limited conditions, and is mainly used in private car mass production projects and shared cars services. A self-driving car equipped with Valet Parking can perform a myriad of operations including remote pick-ups and returns, permanent parking, low-speed automatic driving, automatic charging, all through various devices such as smartphones, which greatly enhances the travel experiences for private car owners and shared car users.

At the booth of Great Wall Motors, visitors will be able to experience inter-vehicle communication achieved using 5G technology, which is characterized by large bandwidths and low latency. Vehicles will be able to achieve smart and autonomous driving through the establishment of interconnectivity inside a car. Communication can also be established between drivers and cars, cars and roads, as well as between cars and cloud terminals.

According to the official news release, Cadillac will officially launch their “Super Cruise” super intelligent driving system, which is the first driver-assisted hands free system specifically for driving on highways.
