BYD Unveils Multiple Car Models Including YangWang U8 at Auto Shanghai

On April 18th, the 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition officially opened. BYD debuted multiple models including: YangWang U8, Song L concept SUV and BYD Seagull.

At the show, the U8 was launched in two versions: the luxury version and the off-road player version. The official pre-sale price is ¥1.098 million RMB (about $160,000 USD).

This is architecture exclusive to high-end new energy vehicles, which includes BYD Group’s most extreme technology applications, forward-looking technological concepts and deep vertical integration. It covers six core technologies: E-Platform 4.0, DiLink 3.0, Blade Battery, Super Body Structure, Intelligent Cockpit and ADAS.

Looking up at the U8, its maximum power output exceeds 1100 horsepower and it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. With its powerful engine and precise control ability, the U8 has strong off-road capabilities and easily completed the sand dune challenge in Alashan’s Big V Gully.

In YangWang architecture, these top technologies are flexibly combined like a Rubik’s Cube to achieve coverage of multiple scenarios such as outdoor off-road, urban, and track.

At the same time, the BYD Dynasty Series Song L concept car made its global debut at the Shanghai Auto Show. As a new high-end B-class pure electric SUV of the Dynasty brand, Song L is developed with pioneering, sporty and technological concepts.

Adopting the new generation design language of BYD Dynasty Series, it reflects the designer’s new thinking and expression for EV SPORT DRAGON. The electric tail wing and frameless doors are presented for the first time in a BYD model, enhancing the sporty atmosphere of Song L and catering to young users who pursue fashion and sports.

In addition, the BYD Seagull, designed based on the concept of “marine aesthetics”, has a dynamic and lively overall style that instantly conveys a sense of vitality and confidence. The pre-sale price range is between ¥78,800 RMB to 95,800 RMB ($12,000 to $14,000 USD).

BYD Seagull adopts a pure electric exclusive safety body structure, with the proportion of high-strength steel in the white body reaching as high as 61%, which is at a leading level in the same class. It can provide the most direct safety protection for passengers inside the car.

Seagull is a brand new vehicle model from BYD’s next-generation technology that moves from high-dimensional to wide-ranging markets. It has two driving ranges of 305km or 405km (CLTC comprehensive working conditions), as well as twelve standard features including four safety airbags, ESP electronic vehicle stability system, fast charging (30/40kW), etc., which balance safety, intelligence, convenience and comfort.
