Geely’s Zeekr Unveils M-Vision Concept Car and Autonomous Car Developed With Waymo
Geely’s high-end pure electric vehicle brand Zeekr announced on November 17 that its M-Vision concept car based on the SEA-M architecture will be mass-produced in 2024. Meanwhile, a driverless car jointly developed by Zeekr and Waymo, an autonomous driving technology company, also officially appeared in Los Angeles.
The SEA-M architecture was exclusively created by Zeekr for future intelligent travel, and it is also the world’s first pure electric automotive architecture specially developed for unmanned mobile travel. The wide wheelbase of between 2700mm and 3300mm allows vehicles to support flexible seat layout.
As a concept car based on the SEA-M architecture, M-Vision takes the passenger as the core, creating an intelligent mobile space integrating large space and multi-functional seats. It can access L4 and above intelligent driving systems, and is compatible with various unmanned driving solutions.
M-Vision adopts a forward-looking capsule design style and has the ultimate axis-length ratio of 64%. This vehicle features a flat floor for more accessible entry, easy ingress and egress thanks to a B-pillarless design, low step-in height, generous head and legroom, and fully adjustable seats.
M-Vision has an extra-long warranty mileage of 500,000 km for five years, and can drive continuously for more than 16 hours every day on average. The safety design meets the highest safety requirements of the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Throughout the next three years, Zeekr will launch six new models. By 2025, Zeekr will rank among the top three in terms of global market share of high-end electric vehicles, with sales reaching 650,000 units.
Waymo belongs to Alphabet, the parent company of Google, and Waymo One is the world’s first unmanned service commercial application project, launched in December 2018.
On December 29, 2021, Zeekr and Waymo announced that they had become strategic partners. In less than one year, the vehicle customized and developed by Zeekr for Waymo One based on M-Vision concept car was unveiled as scheduled. This model will be equipped with the latest generation of Waymo Driver unmanned driving scheme, with L4 intelligent driving capabilities, and it will be put into commercial operation in the United States.
