Tencent’s New AI Engine Boosts Game Dev Efficiency by 40 Times
At the recent ChinaJoy Summit, Tencent‘s Vice President Zhang Wei stated that in the gaming industry, AI has become a “standard configuration” for research and development. This year, Tencent launched a new self-developed AI engine that can increase efficiency in game scene creation and content generation by more than 40 times.
It is understood that Tencent is one of the companies that early on systematized the layout of AI research and development. Since the establishment of AI Lab in 2016, their research results have been widely applied in fields such as gaming, social networking, and digital humans. In recent years, Tencent has continuously increased its investment in game development and has achieved significant results in basic theoretical research and application levels.
For example, the large-scale reinforcement learning scheme used in the mobile game “Naruto” has reduced the time and resources required for fighting game training by more than 90%. This innovative technology has a leading advantage globally.
In addition, Tencent has cooperated with the Civil Aviation Administration of China to develop a full-motion flight simulator visual system. This system is built on Tencent‘s self-developed game engine and Southern Airlines’ self-developed virtual display technology, and other advanced technologies, and has passed the highest level of appraisal by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The system has officially been put into pilot training and began operation in January of last year. To date, it has completed more than 400 hours of flight training time.
These developments demonstrate Tencent‘s strength and innovative capabilities in AI research and development. With the continuous development of AI technology, we can expect more applications to appear in the future, bringing better experiences and more efficient production methods for people.
