Mercedes-Benz Collaborates with Volcano Engine to Explore Large Models and Generative AI
On August 13th, it was reported that Volcano Engine, the cloud service platform under ByteDance, announced that Mercedes-Benz (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Beijing Volcano Engine Technology Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation memorandum to collaborate and explore in the fields of large models, generative artificial intelligence, and big data.
It was introduced that Mercedes-Benz has previously collaborated with Volcano Engine in the application and development tools for in-car use. In 2023, Mercedes-Benz will integrate Volcano Engine’s in-car audio and video app, Volcano Car Entertainment, into its intelligent cockpit system, launching it first in the all-new long wheelbase E-Class. This application aggregates audio and video content from popular platforms such as Douyin, Xigua Video, and Toutiao.
The official statement indicates that Mercedes-Benz and Volcano Engine will continue to expand their collaboration in the future. The collaboration includes the following:
Enhancing the smart cabin system’s network information retrieval capabilities: Based on a vast knowledge base and leveraging the intent understanding and logical reasoning capabilities of large models, make future virtual assistants “smarter and more knowledgeable.”
Improving the reaction speed of the smart cabin system: By atomizing the cabin, more efficiently invoking various services to further enhance the response speed and execution capability of the voice system.
Expanding intelligent application scenarios to bring personalized smart cabin experiences: Extending more usage scenarios in areas such as voice, navigation, entertainment, and information to meet diverse customer needs while providing a smarter, more convenient, and more personalized smart cabin experience.
Increasing the R&D speed of the smart cabin: Against the backdrop of the Mercedes-Benz China R&D team continuously enhancing “China Speed,” both parties will continue to advance cooperation in developing plugins and toolchains.
