BYD ‘Explorer No.1’ Arrives in Europe, Heading to the UK and the Netherlands to Unload Vehicles
According to blogger @小迪快报, on August 15, BYD’s ‘Explorer No.1’ roll-on/roll-off transport ship arrived at the port of Santander in Spain. Subsequently, ‘Explorer No.1’ will continue to sail to countries such as the UK and the Netherlands to load and unload vehicles, completing its second trip to Europe.
The BYD ‘Explorer No.1’ vehicle transport ro-ro ship was built by CIMC Raffles under the CIMC Group, with 7,000 parking spaces suitable for various new energy vehicles. The blogger revealed that a total of 1,000 BYD Song PLUS DM-i vehicles have arrived in Spain.
In January of this year, BYD’s ‘Explorer No.1’ car transport roll-on/roll-off ship held its delivery and maiden voyage ceremonies at Yantai Port in Shandong and the Shen-Shan Xiaomo International Logistics Port. The ship carried 4,060 new energy vehicles. On February 21, the ‘Explorer No.1’ successfully arrived at the Port of Vlissingen in the Netherlands; on February 25, the ship departed from the Port of Antwerp in Belgium and successfully arrived at the Port of Bremenhaven in Germany.
The BYD 7000 dual-fuel car transport ship is the ‘Green Low Carbon Upgrade Version 2.0’ car transport ship under construction by CSSC. The ship has a total length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 38 meters, a designed draft of 9 meters, and a designed speed of 18.5 knots (approximately 34.262 km/h). It employs a dual-fuel propulsion system using natural gas (LNG) and fuel oil, and for the first time is equipped with a battery system and a shaft generator. Additionally, it incorporates various energy-saving measures, including energy-saving devices and anti-fouling paints, and can carry up to 7,000 vehicles.
